This May is a busy month for local events – there is a Rapidplay tournament in Stroud, and the annual Cotswold Congress in Gloucester.
Stroud Summer Rapidplay will be held at St Matthew’s Church Hall in Stroud on Saturday 11th May, and is a rapidplay tournament where all moves are to be made in 15 minutes, with an additional five second per move added. Details can be found at https://www.stroudchess.club/stroud-summer-rapid-tournament.
The Cotswold Congress will be held at King’s School in Gloucester across Whit bank holiday, 25th, 26th, and 27th of May. This is a classical tournament, with all moves to be made in 90 minutes, with an additional thirty seconds gained on every move; two games will be played each day, with six in total. More details can be found at https://www.cornwallchess.org.uk/cotswold/cotswold-details.shtml.
Both of these are rated tournaments and can be quite formal, so if you’re just looking for some games I’d recommend dropping in and seeing us at the club on a Tuesday night!
